1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. celery seed
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
1 (2-1/2 lb.) fresh beef brisket, trimmed*
In a small bowl, combine the first six ingredients; rub over brisket.
Place in a 3 quart crock pot/slow cooker.
~~~Sauce~~~
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup chili sauce
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 TB cider vinegar
2 TB Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. Wright's Liquid Smoke, optional
1/2 tsp. ground dry mustard
In a large bowl, combine the sauce ingredients. Pour half over the brisket;
set the remaining sauce aside.
Cover and cook on HIGH heat setting for 4 to 5 hours or until meat is
tender.
Serve with the reserved sauce.
Yield: 8 servings.
*Note: This is a fresh beef brisket, not corned beef. The meat comes from the
first cut of the brisket.
