Old Fashioned Oatmeal Apple Cookies

3/4 c Butter Flavor Crisco
1 1/4 c firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 c quick-cooking oats (not instant or old-fashioned)
1 c all-purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 c peeled, diced apples
3/4 c raisins (optional)
3/4 c broken walnut pieces (optional)
1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease baking sheets with Butter Flavor Crisco.
2. Cream Butter Flavor Crisco, brown sugar, egg, milk and vanilla at medium speed of electric mixer for 1 1/2 minutes.
3. Combine flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda and salt. Beat into creamed mixture at low speed until well blended, or by hand with a large spoon.
4. Stir in fruit and nuts.
5. Stir in oats.
6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough on greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 13 minutes. Cook 2 minutes on baking sheet. Remove to cooling rack. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies
