Squash and Apple Bake
2 pounds butternut squash
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground mace
2 large baking apples, cored and sliced 1/2 inch thick
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Cut each squash in half. Remove seeds and fibers; pare squash. Cut into 1/2 inch slices. In a medium-size mixing bowl, stir together brown sugar, butter or margarine, flour, salt, and mace. Arrange squash in an ungreased baking dish and top with apple slices. Sprinkle sugar mixture on top, cover with foil. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees
C) for 50 to 60 minutes; or until squash is tender.
