Italian Style Burgers
Italian Style Burgers
2 pounds ground chick or ground round
1 large egg
1/4 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
2 t. hot sauce
1 t. onion powder
1 t. garlic powder
1 t. salt
1 t. pepper
8 hamburger buns
Vegetable cooking spray
Lettuce, tomato slices
Tomato Basil Mayonnaise (recipe follows)
Combine first 8 ingredients. Shape into 8 patties, each 4 oz. Grill patties covered with grill lid, over medium high heat (350 to 400) for 5 minutes on each side or until beef is no longer pink. Spray cut sides of buns with cooking spray. Place buns, cut sides down on cooking grate, and grill 2 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve hamburgers on buns with desired toppings and Tomato Basil Mayonnaise.
Tomato Basil Mayonnaise:
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
2 T. tomato sauce
Process mayonnaise, basil leaves and tomato sauce in a blender or food processor until smooth, stopping to scrape down sides. Store in an airtight container in refrigerator up to 1 week. Serves 8
