Tex-Mex Chili
1 pound lean ground beef
1 small onion -- chopped
1 28oz can crushed tomatoes
1 6oz can tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
In a large saucepan or pot, cook beef and onion over medium heat for 6 to 8
minutes, or until beef is no longer pink, stirring occasionally. Drain any
excess liquid. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, water, sugar, cocoa powder, chili
powder, salt, red pepper, allspice, and cinnamon; mix well. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to low and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
